How to go to, in, and around the fabulous Punta del Este
The lovely port town
of Punta del Este in Uruguay is the first stop in the great Clipper Round the
World race. For those who are interested in visiting this city, there are
several ways to explore the town. Below
are at the available methods of transportation when going to, in, and around
the city.
Airport
Visitors can fly into
the city via domestic or international flights.
The airport of destination is the Capitan de Corbeta Carlos A. Curbelo
International Airport, which is closer to Laguna del Sauce at the outskirts of
Punta del Este. There is also the
Carrasco International Airport, which is less than 120 kilometers from the port
city.
Ferry
Since Punta del Este
is a port town, tourists arrive via ferry.
The ferry leaves Buenos Aires and
goes all the way to Montevideo, which is 140 kilometers from Punta del
Este. Visitors can opt to go either by
car or bus to Punta del Este.
Taxis and buses
Taxis
and buses are readily available at the airports. There are two major bus companies, Copsa and
Cot, and private taxi services that bring people from the airports to Punta del
Este.
